MDRF Holds Medical Outreach at Sabo Angwa Village, Suleja …donates cash to Medical Centre in New Karu, Nasarawa State

The humanitarian activities of the Michael Dato Relief Foundation (MDRF) was very noticeable in the medical sector. The Foundation organized a medical outreach at Sabo Angwa village, Kwamba Suleja. Over one hundred people including women and children were attended to health-wise.

The medical team was led by Dr. Victor Awe, assisted by Nurse (Mrs.) Emily Moses. They conducted minor medical tests for the people and administered free drugs on behalf of the Foundation. Those who had severe medical cases where referred to the General Hospital in Suleja. For instance, there was a case of a boy that had hernia and they brought him to the outreach. Our medical team referred him to the general hospital. It is our hope that in the future, the Foundation would have grown to be able to take up the medical bill of such cases.

The doctor also sensitized the people on the need to keep themselves and their environment clean especially in this era of COVID-19 pandemic. In a short message to the people, the President of MDRF, Deaconess Helen Umar admonished them to take the issue of their health serious and visit the hospital when necessary to avoid careless deaths from preventable and curable diseases like malaria. She said the Foundation will continue to reach out to those of them in the villages in order to complement government effort.

Meanwhile, the Michael Dato Relief Foundation donated the sum of N50,000 to ECWA Comprehensive Medical Centre, New Karu, Nasarawa State, to support the acquisition of medical equipment for the centre. This was disclosed by the President of MDRF, Helen Umar. She said the donation was personally made by her on behalf of the Foundation at the commissioning/opening ceremony for the Medical Centre, donated by a philanthropist who is also an indigene of the community.
